Léon Samoilovitch Bakst was a Russian painter scene designer and costume designer. He was famous for designing exotically beautiful costumes and sets for the Ballets Russes at the turn of the 20th century.

His costume illustrations are amazingly colorful and wonderfully rich in textures and exotica.

His costume illustrations have this sense of whimsical-tastic about them. Leon Bakst’s set designs are equally gorg!!
