Shwood is a Portland (Oregon) based Manufacture that specify in wood frame eyewear. Their glasses are inspired by nature and hand crafted individually.
Shwood claims that most of their materials are from sustainable wood, sourced from authorized and supervised plantations in different African countries and India. Some special projects have unique materials.
Take this particular experiment when used broken skateboard to create a product. The result looks great!
However, these are not on sales.. yet. But I think this is a great way to recycle materials.
The business model is pretty much formed based on a community basis. This should be encouraged in the age of self sustainability is the key.
Check out this clip with Eric Singer, Shwood’s Founder.
These glasses are retails at $125 – $250 per pair. I have picked out my favorite pair, the Ashland in East Indian Rosewood with Brown Polarized lense.
