‘Act your age, not your shoe size’

So I watched ‘Mermaids’ last night and boy did I like it!

The cast includes Cher, Bob Hoskins, Winona Ryder and Christina Ricci.

It’s pretty much a bildungsroman with many HAHA and AHA moments. The whole cast was great.

Cher plays a single-mom-on-the-run, figuratively speaking, with two daughters. One, who’s played by Winona Ryder, is at the coming-of-age teenage years. She’s quite cluelessly prudish to say the least. The other, played by Christina Ricci, is a tomboyish little girl who will remind you how childhood supposed to be. And, she has the best line in the movie: ‘Act your age, not your shoe size!’

But the best acting award of the movie should go to Bob Hoskins. He was so wonderful with a sense of humor and humility. He plays a man whose wife has packed up and left, and yet, did not loose his delightful spirit.

Now before I forget, I ought to mention the wardrobe of this movie. It sets in the 60s and Cher has some very banging outfits.

You MUST MUST watch out for some awesome hot pants in the movie. Man, if only I have her figure..

..which, sometimes I think I do.. HA!
